What Is Frequency Medicine?

Frequency medicine is the use of energy, such as electromagnetic fields, sound, light, and gentle electrical currents, to support the body's own healing and balance. It rests on a simple idea: every cell, organ, and system in your body runs on electrical and vibrational activity, and the right frequencies can help that activity come back into balance.
I like to say frequency medicine is designed to remind the body of what God designed it to do: heal and return to homeostasis. It's the foundation of almost everything I offer at EllieMetanoia in The Woodlands.
What is a frequency?
A frequency is simply how often something repeats, measured in hertz (Hz), or cycles per second. Sound has frequency. So do light, radio waves, and the electrical rhythms inside your body. A deep drum vibrates slowly. A whistle vibrates fast. Both are frequencies.
Does the body really run on frequency?
Yes, and conventional medicine measures it every day.
Your heart: an EKG records the electrical signals that make your heart beat
Your brain: an EEG records brainwaves, the rhythms of electrical activity measured in Hz
Your nerves and muscles: every movement and sensation travels as an electrical signal
Your cells: each cell holds a small electrical charge across its membrane, which helps it take in nutrients and send signals
Frequency medicine starts from that same understanding: your body is electrical, and electrical systems respond to frequency.
Is frequency already used in conventional medicine?
It is, and many people are surprised to learn how often.
PEMF for bone healing: pulsed electromagnetic fields were approved by the FDA in 1979 and have been used for decades to support bone healing (Caruso et al., 2024)
CES for anxiety and insomnia: cranial electrotherapy stimulation devices are FDA cleared, and a 2022 meta-analysis found CES reduced anxiety (Chou et al., 2022)
Ultrasound: high-frequency sound waves are used to see inside the body
TENS units: gentle electrical currents are widely used for pain
So frequency affecting the body is already part of mainstream medicine. The real questions are which frequencies, delivered how, and for what.
What does frequency medicine look like at EllieMetanoia?
I use several frequency-based technologies, each working in a different way:
The Theta Chamber: combines light, sound, a gentle microcurrent, vibration, slow rotation, and a PEMF mat to guide the brain into calmer states
High Intensity PEMF: powerful electromagnetic pulses designed to boost cellular energy (ATP), circulation, and recovery
The Negative Ion/Rife/Scalar Suite: plasma light frequencies, scalar technology, and negative ion rain in one relaxing session
AO Scan: reads the body's frequencies, sends balancing frequencies back, and can be used at home
The Pelvic Floor Frequency Chair: electromagnetic pulses that strengthen the pelvic floor
I pair these with energy healing like Emotion Code and Belief Coding, because I believe the mind, body, and spirit all play a part.
What does the research say?
The research is strongest for some tools and still early for others, and I think you deserve to know the difference.
PEMF and CES have the most published research behind them, including the studies above. Binaural beats and light stimulation have growing evidence too. Other approaches, like Rife frequencies and scalar energy, have a long history of use but much less formal research. I'll cover each of those in its own post.
I trained as a nurse, so I care about evidence. I'm also open to the fact that science hasn't caught up with everything people experience. That's what "bridging science and the sacred" means to me.
Is frequency medicine safe?
The technologies I use are non-invasive, and most people find them deeply relaxing. A few people should check with their doctor first, including anyone who is pregnant or has a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, and anyone with a history of seizures triggered by light. Frequency medicine works alongside your medical care, never in place of it.
Where should I start?
If you're new to frequency medicine, you don't need to know which technology is right for you. That's what the free consultation is for. Book yours here, and we'll talk about what you're feeling and where to begin.
