The 28-Day Theta Chamber Protocol for Addiction Recovery

The 28-Day Theta Chamber Protocol is my most in-depth program, designed for people whose struggle is taking over their daily life, including addiction. Over 28 days, the Theta Chamber's built-in addiction programs work to calm the nervous system and support the brain in building new, healthier pathways. It's offered at my center in The Woodlands, alongside your medical and recovery care.
This week is Red Ribbon Week, a national campaign for drug-free living. It felt like the right time to talk about recovery and the role the Theta Chamber can play.
If you're in crisis right now, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call the SAMHSA National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357. Both are free, confidential, and open 24/7.
Why is recovery about more than stopping?
Getting through withdrawal is a huge step, but it's only the beginning. Addiction changes how the brain handles stress, reward, and cravings. Even after the substance is gone, the nervous system can stay on high alert, and old patterns can pull hard, especially in moments of stress.
That's why recovery often needs support on many levels: medical care, counseling, community, and help for a nervous system that has forgotten how to feel calm on its own. I wrote more about this in Beyond Detox: Understanding the Addicted Brain.
How does the Theta Chamber support recovery?
The Theta Chamber is a pod you lie down in that slowly rotates while light, sound, a gentle microcurrent, vibration, and a low-intensity PEMF mat work together to guide the brain toward calmer states. Once it gets up to speed, it feels like floating. Each session is 30 minutes. You can read about each part in What Is a Theta Chamber?
The theta state is linked with deep relaxation and greater openness to change. For someone in recovery, a calmer nervous system can make cravings and stress easier to ride out.
What addiction programs does the Theta Chamber have?
My chamber has eight built-in programs designed specifically for addiction support:
Amphetamines, Meth, Cocaine & Stimulants
Heroin, Opiates, Morph, Subox, Meth & Tobacco
Pain Killers (Oxycodone, Lortab, and others)
Marijuana
Alcohol
Benzos
Barbiturates, Sedatives & Tranquilizers
Pornography, Gaming, Gambling & Sexual
It also has emotional programs that often go hand in hand with recovery, including Anxiety, Reduce Stress, Anger/Fear, and Depression, Drugs. We choose the programs that fit you.
Who is the 28-Day Protocol for?
A simple way to know: on a scale of 1 to 10, how much is this affecting your daily life?
If your answer is 8 or higher, the 28-Day Protocol was made for you. It's designed for people who are really suffering, most often with addiction, anxiety, depression, or PTSD, and it's the best option for anyone wanting lasting change in how the brain is wired.
If your answer is lower, the 6- or 12-session packages may be a better place to start.
Why 28 days?
Lasting change takes repetition. The brain builds new pathways through consistent practice, a process called neuroplasticity. A single session can feel wonderful, but four weeks of steady support gives the brain the time and repetition it needs to start building new patterns.
What does the 28-Day Protocol schedule look like?
For addiction, I recommend coming in twice a day for at least the first 14 days. That gives your nervous system steady, frequent support in the early weeks of recovery. Coming in every day for the full 28 days is ideal. We'll set a schedule together that works with your life and your recovery plan.
One adult who completed 28 days shared:
"I have been doing the Theta Chamber for 28 days and it has been a game changer on my patience and focus." (Dr. Tiffany Kristensen, DTCM, owner of Vibe Acupuncture & Holistic Healing Center, where EllieMetanoia is located)
Individual results vary.
Is the Theta Chamber a detox or addiction treatment?
No, and this is important. The Theta Chamber doesn't replace medical detox, medication, counseling, or a recovery program. It's designed to support your nervous system alongside that care.
Withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines, and some other substances can be medically dangerous. Please never stop these on your own. Work with a doctor or a medically supervised detox program. For opioid withdrawal, ask me about the Morph Device, an FDA-cleared option placed and overseen by a licensed physician.
What else can support recovery at EllieMetanoia?
Addiction often has emotional roots, and I believe lasting recovery means working with those too.
Belief Coding: finds and rewires the limiting beliefs that can drive self-sabotage and old patterns
Emotion Code: releases trapped emotions your body may still be carrying from past pain

As of October 2026:
28-Day Protocol: $1,899
